Locality Northern High Sierra Nevada. Crest of the Diamond Mtns, overlooking Janesville and Honey Lake, 0.15 mi N of Rd 28N01 and 0.4 mi E of its junction with Janesville Grade (Rd 29N01/Rd 208). Knoll on N side of crest, in soft decomposed granite soil among rounded granite boulders.

Open yellow pine dominated Mixed Conifer forest, with scattered Purshia tridentata, Ceanothus velutina and Chinquapin understory. Herbaceous associates: Lupinus argenteus var. meionanthus, Arenaria congesta var. suffrutescens, Chaenactis douglasii, Gayophytum sp., Cryptantha affinis, Penstemon newberryi, Antennaria geyeri.
