Locality | Lassen National Forest, Ishi Wilderness. Road 28N29. Roadcut on a SW facing slope. |
Elevation | 1121 m |
Habitat | Roadcut on a SW facing 25 deg. slope. Volcanic substrate, very dry. Full sun. Scabby areas with no litter seem to be the habitat. There were ~500 plants here, but we did not survey extensively. Flowering. The scabby habitat seemed common. Very open Grey Pine forest with occasional Ceanothus cordulatus and Cercis occidentalis. Avena and other grasses are associates. Other associates include Astragalus pauperculus, Bromus tectorum, B. hordeaceus, Thysanocarpus curvipes, Lotus humistratus. Minuartia douglasii, Centaurea solstitialis, Eriogonum nudum, Petrorhagia dubia. Note: some plants were growing in the road bed in imminent danger of being scraped by a bull dozer; we collected many of these road bed plants. |
