HabitatNorth-northwest facing moderate slope at upper third above small drainage; sparsely vegetated area of fine and coarse crumbly shale, in annual grassland with widely scattered blue oaks; with Collinsia sparsiflora, Lupinus bicolor, Phlox gracilis, Lepidium nitidum, Minuartia californica, Claytonia exigua, Crassula, Androsace elongata subsp. acuta, Erodium, Athysanus pusillus, mosses. Plant a weak-stemmed annual; no flowers visible.
