Locality Northern High Sierra Nevada. South side of Hwy 70 on the south side of the canyon of North Fork Feather River; 100 m west of the western driveway to Cresta Powerhouse.

HabitatSteep, open, north-northwest facing, decomposing granite, road cutbank low in the canyon, through mixed conifer forest (Douglas-fir, Ponderosa pine, white fir, canyon live oak, big-leaf maple, madrone. Growing with sparse Clarkia rhomboidea, Lupinus albicaulis, Phacelia. Corolla rotate; petals large, white; anthers dark magenta.
