HabitatSoutheast-facing road cutbank becoming overgrown by deerbrush, Rhamnus, Symphoricarpos mollis; opening through mixed conifer forest of Douglas-fir, ponderosa pine, incense cedar, white fir, black oak, canyon live oak, big-leaf maple. Petals magenta, with dark speckles at base of limb, large red spot at base of claw; anthers tan-yellow to orange.
