Specimen number CHSC11781
Determination Epilobium ciliatum subsp. ciliatum
More information: Jepson Online Interchange
Collector, number, date E. B. Copeland, 388, 1929-7-25
Verbatim date 1929-07-25
County Butte
Locality Jonesville.
Elevation 1500 m
HabitatIn damp brush and edges of meadows. Exceedingly variable. The material here distributed has pink flowers, becoming purplish, with petals 4-5 mm. long, the apex usually notched rather than obcordate. At this season no 'turions' are found, but the plants from the wettest places bear at the base a series of 'cotyledon-like scales.' The seed sometimes narrows toward the apex, but is more commonly narrowly obovoid; it is always minutely striate-roughened. Individual local specimens are referable to many supposed species.
