Locality Sacramento Valley. In Elder Creek channel, ca 3.6 air mi upstream (NW) of its confluence with the Sacramento River and 280 ft W of the Hwy 99W bridge in rural residential area.

HabitatOn S bank, on irregular mound of dry soil ca 1 m above bed, among roots of tall willow tree (Salix goodingii), near Arundo donax and other native and non-native streamside vegetation. Small part of large, matted clump over 2 ft across; no corollas generally visible, but plt has small heads with tiny white rays hidden in the mass of foliage, about half the diameter of fruiting heads.Uncommon.
