Locality Northern High Sierrra Nevada. Plumas National Forest; north slope of Sawmill Ridge overlooking Slate Creek; along Road 800 about 1.2 road-km southwest of Gibsonville-Johnsonville Road.

HabitatSteep open rocky serpentine slope, north-facing; Erigeron petrophilus var. sierrensis extremely abundant; also Ericamaeria nauseosa, Eriogonum ursinum, E. umbellatum var. modocense, Angelica breweri, Monardella odoratissima, Elymus elymoides. Flowers yellow, but most heads in fruit; plants with many decumbent to erect branches from a buried caudex.
