Locality Northern High Sierra Nevada. Plumas National Forest; 1.9 air-km southeast of Pike County Peak, 4.1 air-km southeast of Challenge; near Road 29N38.

HabitatOpen mixed conifer forest plus tanoak (Ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir, madrone, black oak), thinned and most tanoak cut and now stump-sprouting; ridgetop along dirt road. Uncommon, and flowering plants more uncommon, flowerrs bright pink; pedicels and sepal backs glabrous (11256A is a similar plants with pedicels and sepal backs with gland-tipped bristles).
