Locality Northern High Sierra Nevada. Top of band of serpentine along Sawmill Ridge 1.0 km southeast of Delahunty Lake and 2.7 km northwest of Mt Fillmore.

HabitatOpen rocky serpentine barrens along ridgeline and knoll; mostly bare ground, widely scattered Jeffrey pine; lots of scattered Erigeron petrophilus var. sierrensis (not yet flowering), Phlox diffusa (just past flowering), Eriogonum ursinum, etc. Plants forming small clumps to 1 dm high not counting the inflorescences; flowers bright yellow, most plants still in bud.
