Locality Northern High Sierra Nevada. Southwestern spur of Rocky Ridge, 0.6 air km south of Batchelor Point; along Road 23N06E 0.8 road km southeast of Rim Road/Ponderosa Way.

HabitatSouthwest-sloping rocky serpentine slope; burned over by wildfire in 2008; open Jeffrey pine and incense cedar dominated forest with lost of manzanita in the openings, plus lots of Frangula californica subsp. tomentella, Umbellularia californica. Plants forming small tufts of culms; inflorescences +-drooping; spikelets soft-hairy.
