HabitatBurned over woodland of Pinus monophylla and Juniperus occidentalis with Artemisia tridentata, Ephedra viridis, Chrysomthamnus nauseosus, Tetradymia canescens,, Eriogonum wrightii var. subscaposum, Elymus elymoides, Poa secunda, many annuals. Schistose, metasedimentary substrate. Perennial herb, floral bracts bright red, leaves glandular, with undulate margins. Common.
