Locality Northern High Sierra Nevada. Plumas National Forest; north side of Road 22N50Y 0.7 road km east of Road 22N60; 2.4 air km east-northeast of the northeast corner of Little Grassy Valley Reservoir. Small grassy openings in north-facing slopes.

HabitatSmall grassy openings in north-facing slopes, forest of red fir and white fir, openings mostly caused by past logging activities; openings also with moutain white thorn, bitter cherry, thimbleberry, Sierra gooseberry. Often growing with Stipa occidentalis, Bromus orcuttianus, Elymus glaucus, Melica aristata, Carex specifica. Plants common, forming small tufts; inflorescences +- contracted and drooping.
