Locality Colorado Desert; Little San Bernardino Mountains region; Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. Trail off Pioneer Rd up foothills. SE of Hwy 62.

HabitatFoothill. Sandy soil with gravel (5/4-2.5Y light olive brown). 40 degree slope NW. Creosote and Encelia Bush Scrub. Associated with Viguiera parishii, Encelia virginensis, Phacelia distans, Larrea tridentata, Hymenoclea salsola, Mirabilis laevis var. retrorsa, Lotus scoparius, Delphinium parishii, Yucca schidigera, Xylorhiza tortifolia, Camissonia pallida, Salazaria mexicaqna, Salvia columbariae, Chaenactis fremontii, Rafinesquia neomexicana, Phoradendron californicum, Eriophyllum wallacei, Ziziphus parryi, Opuntia basilaris, Leptosiphon aureus, Lycium andersonii, Eschscholzia minutiflora, and Anisicoma acaulis. Site has been impacted by non-native plants. Dioecius, male and female specimens on sheet 1-3 ft tall. Populations >1000 in area.
