HabitatChaparral, Secca soils. This Carex grows abundantly under Cupressus macnabiana, in this habitat. Other companions: Salvia sonomensis, Ceanothus lemmonii, Arctostaphylos viscida, Pinus ponderosa, P. sabiniana.
