Locality | San Gabriel Valley; Montebello Hills, under SCE powerlines S of Montebello Blvd. and W of Plaza Dr., S of large shopping mall called Montebello Town Center. Working oil field with access roads and scattered pump pads. |
Habitat | Hillsides, mostly loam over sandstone with cobbles; very dense, c. 1.5 m tall, coastal sage scrub with Eriogonum fas., Baccharis pil., Artemisia cal., Encelia far., etc. and taller plants of Sambucus mex., Heteromeles, etc. At least partially (perhaps entire area) revegetated from severe disturbance a few decades past. Almost no native annuals, no bulb plants, no Marah, scant Opuntia. |
