NotesSmith, 1996: In fruit. Intermediate between the putative parents. This is on of 6 specimens, all from California, I have seen of this hybrid from Morth America. It is somewhat similar to B. novae-angliae, known only from the Atlantic Coast. Smith, 1958: Gray, Dark-brown, shiney achenes and perhaps the narrow leaves are atypical. This may be a hybrid with S. tuberosus which is an introduced species in the same region and which seems to intergrade with the native species.;
