macromorphologyPerennial; bulb scales many; erect, 5-10 dm tall; leaves elliptic, < 2 dm long; flowers 1-3, pendent; perianth +/- 10 cm long, strongly recurved, outer surface pale orange with purple spots in distal 50%, remainder scarlet; anthers dark orange, 10 mm long; pistil 5-7 cm long. Locally common, 5-10 clonal groups seen. Tops seen eaten by cattle.
