NotesTHE FOUR SEASONS, Volume 5, Number 4, August 14, 1978. This green leaved manzanita, with a known distribution from Humboldt County on the n. to southern Contra Costa County on the s., has been named Arctostaphylos bowermanae Roof at Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve logical characters are interchangeable with A. manzanita. Also the chromosome structure of A. bowermanae is alleged to be n=13 instead of n=26 as in A. manzanita but the literature did not elaborate how many plants were tested. Therefore this manzanita most logically is hereby declared to be: Arctostaphylos manzanita Parry 1/27/79 Determined by: Walter Knight.;
