HabitatGentle S-facing slope. Mixed conifer forest and species-rich herbaceous ground cover with Pinus contorta, P. ponderosa, P. monticola, Tsuga mertensiana, Abies magnifica, Picea breweriana, Leucothoe davisiae, Chrysolepis sempervirens, Vaccinium caespitosum, Chimaphila, Amelanchier utahensis. Along trail in partial shade. Granitic bedrock, humus soil.

macromorphologyOccasional. Clonal deciduous shrub to ca. 20 cm tall; young stems narrow, pale dull green, more or less angled, at least partly through decurrent groove on either side of petiole base; old stems reddish brown, some thickened with transverse fissures (diseased); leaves pale dull green; flowers pendent; corolla white, ca. as long as wide; style exserted.
