INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: India, Pakistan.

Note: S. Dixit (1968: 15) and V. Krishnamurthy & H. Joshi (1970: 6) considered this species to be a form of Caulerpa taxifolia (Vahl) C. Agardh (q.v.), but Shameel (1978a: 280) listed morphological characters that separate the two species, which he found growing side by side under similar ecological conditions on the Karachi coast in Pakistan. Shameel & Shaukat (1992) made a statistical analysis of morphological and ecological characters of three similar species—C. manorensis Nizamuddin [p. 825], C. qureshii Nizamuddin [p. 831], and C. veravalensis—and found that the first two species are more similar to each other than they are to C. veravalensis.
