Note: The conspecificity of Bryopsis setacea Hering and B. myosuroides was proposed by Barton (1893: 81; 1896: 459). Although B. setacea Hering is the older name, it cannot be used since it is a later homonym of B. setacea Lamouroux (1822: 386; type locality: Istanbul, Turkey), a name of uncertain application. According to Papenfuss (notes), B. flanaganii is a growth form of B. myosuroides.
