INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: India, Mauritius, Réunion.
Note: Conferva linoides C. Agardh, the intended basionym of Chaetomorpha linoides, is not priorable since it is a later homonym of Conferva linoides S. Gray (1821: 313), which is a superfluous name for Conferva linum O.F. Müller (see next entry). Chaetomorpha linoides Kützing is treated as a nomen novum in accordance with Art. 58.3. According to V. Krishnamurthy & H. Joshi (1970: 4), C. linoides is probably conspecific with C. antennina (Bory de Saint-Vincent) Kützing.
