Note: Sargassum acanthicarpum Greville is a later homonym of S. acanthicarpum Suhr, which is treated as a taxonomic synonym of Sargassum lacerifolium (Turner) C. Agardh (q.v.). Sargassum erinaceum, probably a name used by Greville on a specimen or in a manuscript, was introduced as a substitute name by Kuntze (l.c.).
