Note: The conspecificity of Chnoospora minima and C. pacifica was proposed by Papenfuss (1956a: 69–70). Chnoospora fastigiata was established by J. Agardh as a collective species to include C. atlantica J. Agardh (1847: 7; syntype localities: Venezuela: La Guaira; Puerto Cabello) and C. pacifica. Because J. Agardh treated C. pacifica as the alpha variety of C. fastigiata, the latter is treated as a superfluous name for C. pacifica rather than for C. atlantica.
