INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Bangladesh, India, Indonesia (Timor), Kenya, Mauritius, Réunion, Rodriguez Island, Seychelles, Tanzania.

Note: Dictyota obtusangula was based on a specimen distributed by Harvey, without a description, in his Friendly Island exsiccata (1857b: no. 59) under the name Chnoospora obtusangula. It was returned to Chnoospora by Sonder (1871: 45–46) and reduced to the synonymy of C. implexa by Grunow (1874: 25).
