CHNOOSPORACEAE
Note: When establishing the order Scytosiphonales, J. Feldmann (1949) assigned to it the Chnoosporaceae Setchell & Gardner (1925: 400, 552), comprising the single genus Chnoospora. This assignment was made on the basis of the exclusive presence of plurilocular organs. Cytological evidence of the correctness of this placement (i.e., each cell containing a single chloroplast with a pyrenoid) was provided by Fotos (1981).
