Note: Polysiphonia parvula Suhr ex Kützing is a later homonym of P. parvula (C. Agardh) Montagne (1846a: 90) (Hutchinsia parvula C. Agardh, 1824: 156; type locality: St. Croix, Virgin Islands), of unknown application, and P. parvula Zanardini (1847: 212; type locality: Venezia, Italy), which A. De Toni (1907: 162) referred to Lophosiphonia subadunca (Kützing) Falkenberg (treated as a taxonomic synonym of L. obscura (C. Agardh) Falkenberg).
