INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: India, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia.

Note: In forming the epithet brodiaei, Dillwyn latinized the name of the Scottish botanist James Brodie to Brodiaeus before adding the genitive inflection, but because Brodie is a modern name without a well-established latinized form, the genitive inflection should be added to the unmodified name in accordance with Rec. 60C.3. Hollenberg (1944: 477) regarded Scotland as the type locality, but Womersley (1979: 497) pointed out that the figures accompanying the original description were apparently based on material from Bantry Bay, Ireland.
