Note: As pointed out by Papenfuss (1968c: 99–100), Fucus papillosus Forsskål, the intended basionym of Laurencia papillosa, is not priorable since it is a later homonym of F. papillosus S. Gmelin (1768: 188; syntype localities: "mare album, mediterraneum''), a name of uncertain application. Chondria papillosa is treated as a nomen novum in accordance with Art. 58.3.
