Amansia arabica J. Agardh ex Newton, 1953: 398 (intended type locality: southeast Arabian coast).
INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: southeast Arabian coast.
Note: According to Newton (l.c.), Amansia arabica is an unpublished name assigned by J. Agardh to a specimen collected by W. Lunt during Theodore Bent's "Hadramaut'' Expedition, 1893–1894. The first set of seaweeds resulting from this expedition is housed in the Kew Herbarium (at BM).
