Note: The name Phitymophora crenata was first published, without a description or illustration, by J. Agardh (1898: 174). A specimen from the type collection was cited by Delf & Michell (1921: 112) under the Schmitz manuscript name Delesseria bartoniae. Papenfuss examined Drège's material at the British Museum (BM) in 1950 and at Hamburg (HBG) in 1954.
