Note: Fucus flaccidus Turner, the intended basionym of Carpoblepharis flaccida, is not priorable since it is a later homonym of F. flaccidus Lamouroux (in De Candolle, 1802: 131, pl. IX: fig. 1; type locality: near Barcelona, Spain), a name of uncertain application, and F. flaccidus Labillardière (1806–1807: 113, pl. 259: fig. 2), which was placed by J. Agardh (1873: 61–62) in the synonymy of Sargassum verruculosum (Mertens) C. Agardh (q.v.). Delesseria flaccida Lamouroux is treated as a nomen novum in accordance with Art. 58.3.
