Note: Schmitz (1889: 439; in Schmitz & Hauptfleisch, 1897a: 342) noted that the original description and illustrations of Bindera splachnoides represented two species. The cystocarpic portion (figs. 5 and 6) was referred to a new species and new genus, Binderella neglecta, treated as a taxonomic synonym of Amphiplexia hymenocladioides J. Agardh in the Acrotylaceae (q.v.).
