Note: Chondria opuntia J. Agardh, the intended basionym of Coelarthrum opuntia, is not priorable since it is a later homonym of Chondria opuntia (Goodenough & Woodward) C. Agardh (1817: XVIII), which is treated as a taxonomic synonym of Catenella caespitosa (Withering) L. Irvine (q.v.). Chylocladia opuntia Endlicher is treated as a nomen novum in accordance with Art. 58.3. Lomentaria opuntia (Endlicher) J. Agardh is a later homonym of L. opuntia (Goodenough & Woodward) Gaillon (1828: 367), also a synonym of Catenella caespitosa.
