Note: In a survey of the genera of Nemastomataceae, Masuda & Guiry (1995: 66) segregated Schizymenia, Platoma, and (with uncertainty) Titanophora to their own family, Schizymeniaceae (Schmitz & Hauptfleisch) Masuda & Guiry, based on Nemastomataceae tribus Schizymenieae Schmitz & Hauptfleisch (1897k: 522, 523).
