Note: Nemastomataceae Schmitz (in Engler 1892: 22) has been conserved against Gymnophlaeaceae Kützing (1843b: 389, 390), which was shown by P. Silva (1980b: 83–84) to be the earliest name for this family (see P. Silva, 1993b: 708).

Adelophycus Kraft

Note: Adelophycus Kraft (in Womersley & Kraft, 1994: 271) is a new name for Adelophyton Kraft (1975: 280), a later homonym of Adelophyton Renault 1900, a genus of fossil Lepidophyta.
