Rhodymenia preissiana.—Sonder, 1845: 56 (in part).— Sonder, 1848 [1846–1848]: 191 (in part).
INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Australia.
Note: The name Rhodophyllis blepharicarpa, without a description, was used by Harvey in his Australian exsiccata (1857c: no. 301). When establishing this species, Harvey noted that he previously had misapplied to it the name Calliblepharis ? preissii. Min-Thein & Womersley (1976: 109, footnote), while lectotypifying Rhodymenia preissiana Sonder with a plant representative of Gracilaria, explained that part of the original material is referable to Craspedocarpus blepharicarpus. Harvey cited "Garden Island and Rottnest'' (pl. CCLIV) and "Fremantle'' (p. xl), but the holotype sheet reproduced as fig. 63B in Min-Thein & Womersley (1976) is marked "Swan R.''.
