Pneophyllum mauritianum (Foslie) P. Silva.

INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Comoro Islands, Mauritius.

Note: Heteroderma Foslie (1909: 56) was lectotypified by Setchell & Mason (1943b: 96) with H. subtilissimum (Foslie) Foslie (Melobesia subtilissima Foslie, 1904a: 55; type locality: "Atjatuning'' [Atiationin, near Fakfak, west coast of Irian Jaya, Indonesia]), a species not reported from the Indian Ocean. Having found that the type specimen of the lectotype species was referable to an unspecified species of Pneophyllum Kützing (1843b: 385), Chamberlain (1983: 312, 353) treated the two generic names as taxonomic synonyms.

Addendum: Pneophyllum mauritianum (Foslie) P. Silva was validated in Silva, Basson, & Moe (University of California Publications in Botany 79: 269. 1996).
