INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Comoro Islands, Indonesia (Semau and Timor), Madagascar, Maldives, Réunion, Sri Lanka.

Note: In recording Epilithon melobesioides (Foslie) Foslie (1909: 55) from the Maldives, De Toni (l.c.) confused the basionym of that name, Lithothamnion melobesioides Foslie (1904b: 4), a superfluous name for L. monostromaticum Foslie (1903c: 3; type locality: New Zealand), with Mastophora melobesioides Foslie, the basionym of Lithoporella melobesioides.
