Note: This New Zealand species was not recognized by Johansen (1977) in his monograph of South African Cheilosporum.
Addendum: The name Amphiroa elegans J. Hooker & Harvey should be labeled "nom. illeg." because it is a later homonym of Amphiroa elegans Sonder 1845. Cheilosporum elegans should be treated as a new name with Areschoug as the only author. Cheilosporum elegans was merged with C. sagittatum (Lamouroux) Areschoug by Womersley & Johansen (in Womersley, 1996). [R. Cowan]
