Note: The synonymy was proposed by Parkinson (in V. Chapman & Parkinson, 1974: 218). Womersley (1994: 256) was unable to locate the type of Fucus lambertii, for which Turner (l.c.) gave the provenance as "Coast of New Holland''. The foregoing Australian records cite Western Australia without giving specific localities. According to Womersley (l.c.), this species does not occur west of the Head of the Great Australian Bight.
