Note: Echinocaulon pannosum was validated by J. Feldmann's citation of Gelidium pannosum sensu Bornet (1892: 267). Gelidiella tenuissima was proposed as a substitute name for G. pannosa avowedly to avoid confusion with Gelidium pannosum Grunow (Gelidiopsis pannosa (Grunow) Schmitz (q.v.)), but it is superfluous.
