Note: Liagora visakhapatnamensis was proposed as a synonym by Abbott (1990b: 314, 317), who also, on the basis of an examination of the type, includes Trichogloea javensis in this species (Abbott, pers. comm., July 1994). According to Abbott (1990b: 314, 315), specimens (in L) collected by W. Ferguson (no. 30/4) from Sri Lanka and given the manuscript name Liagora pulverulenta C. Agardh var. ambigua by Grunow are representative of L. orientalis.
