Leibleinia holdenii (Forti) P. Silva.
INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: India.
Note: Lyngbya holdenii is a substitute name for L. subtilis Holden, a later homonym of L. subtilis W. West (1892: 741, pl. X: fig. 58; syntype localities: several in England). In attempting to transfer L. subtilis Holden to Leibleinia, Anagnostidis & Komárek overlooked the fact that the intended basionym is a later homonym and hence not priorable. Leibleinia subtilis must therefore be considered a new (and superfluous) name rather than a new combination. Drouet (1968: 48, 75) chose a specimen in NY as the lectotype of this species and assigned it to Schizothrix calcicola (C. Agardh) Gomont.
