* Microcoleus limbatus (Harvey) Bornet

Calothrix limbata Harvey, 1863: lxi (type locality: Rottnest Island, Western Australia).—Sonder, 1880: 42.

Microcoleus limbatus (Harvey) Bornet in Askenasy, 1888: 2.

INDIAN OCEAN DISTRIBUTION: Australia.

Note: This species was distributed under the name Calothrix limbata, without a description, by Harvey in his Australian exsiccata (1857c: no. 596). After examining a representative of the type collection (probably in PC), Gomont (1892a: 336) referred this species to Hydrocoleum cantharidosmum (Montagne) Gomont (Blennothrix cantharidosma [p. 33]). Drouet (1968: 276, 308), on the other hand, chose a specimen in BM as lectotype and assigned it to Microcoleus lyngbyaceus (Kützing) P. Crouan & H. Crouan.
