Note: Drouet (1968: 185, 188), after examining the holotype of this species (in LD), retained its original disposition, as Oscillatoria lutea C. Agardh. Among numerous taxonomic synonyms of this species cited by Drouet is Hydrocoleum meneghinianum Kützing, which is listed separately in this catalogue.
