Note: Drouet (1968: 39, 68) chose a specimen in PH as the lectotype of this species and assigned it to Schizothrix calcicola (C. Agardh) Gomont. Lyngbya pusilla (Rabenhorst) Hansgirg is a later homonym of Lyngbya pusilla Harvey (1858a: 103, pl. XLVII.E; type locality: Sullivans Island, South Carolina, U.S.A.), a marine species not reported from the Indian Ocean.
