Note: Drouet & Daily (1956: 70, 72) chose a specimen in W as the lectotype of Chroococcus turgidus var. tenax and assigned it to Anacystis dimidiata (Kützing) Drouet & Daily. The chosen specimen, however, cannot serve as lectotype because it was collected (by Hieronymus) after the publication of the variety by Kirchner.
