|Notes||Excluded from California moss list. According to Hans Blom (1996), Schistidium apocarpum, common in northern Europe, has been misapplied to accommodate California collections. Schistidium apocarpum in North America is restricted to the extreme northeastern portion of the continent (Blom 1996). In California, the collections previously labeled as Schistidium apocarpum represent at least two undescribed species.|
